    • What are Gazelle warranty terms and conditions?

      Gazelle gives you no less than a 10-year warranty against material and construction defects on the frame and non-suspension front forks. This is obviously subject to the bike being treated, used and maintained normally. There is a 5-year warranty on suspension front forks. The paintwork on the frame and the front forks is covered by a 5-year warranty period. Components on your bike are covered by a 2-year warranty subject to normal use and maintenance.

    • What to do in the event of a defect within the warranty period?

      You are best to go back to your Gazelle dealer. He is the cycle specialist you can go to with any questions you may have. In most cases he will be able to come up with a solution there and then. If this does not prove successful, he will contact the Gazelle Service and Warranty Department in order to resolve the issue.

    • How does an electric bike work?

      The Innergy system consists of four or five main components:
      - The battery: built into the luggage carrier;
      - The motor: built into the front wheel hub. The cycle controller is in turn integrated into the motor;
      - The display: fitted to your handlebars;
      - The rotation sensor: fitted at the (front) chainwheel;
      - (for Xtra and Excellent models) Pedal force sensor: fitted at the rear hub.

      The cycle controller is built into the bike motor. It determines the amount of assistance provided by the motor at the set level of assistance, measured rotation and pedal force, if any. You set the level of assistance yourself using the display on the handlebars. The motor is powered by the battery. The rotation and any pedal force are measured by the aforementioned sensors. Below you will find a brief description of the operation of both sensors.

    • What is the difference between bronze, silver, gold and platinum batteries?

      With Gazelle you have a choice of four different battery packs: bronze, silver, gold and platinum. All four of these batteries provide a different range. The table below shows you the distances you can go on average with the four different batteries and what these batteries cost (the prices you see for the silver and gold batteries are add-on prices over and above the bronze battery price).

    • Is the degree of assistance adjustable?
      Yes of course, the degree of assistance can be easily adjusted using your display.
      You will be able to adjust the level of assistance depending on whether you have acquired a Pure, Plus or Xtra/ Excellent Innergy bike. The user manual show which button does this on each display. There are four assistance options you can select by pressing the button repeatedly.
      • No assistance: you will select this option if you want to deliver all the effort yourself, without any motor assistance.
      • Economical assistance: this option costs you the least battery capacity and you select it for longer distances or if you require minimal assistance from your motor.
      • Normal assistance: you use this option to select medium motor assistance.
      • Boost assistance: you select this option if you wish to have maximum assistance, e.g. when riding uphill.

    • How is the correct frame size measured?

      We apply the following rule of thumb as a guideline for the correct frame size: you measure your inside leg with your shoes off, subtract 28 cm from this measurement and you will have a recommended size for a town sports bike or a hybrid. This will be within a margin of around 2 cm. We would advise you to go to a dealer with a measuring system in order to be measured accurately. With the current sprung seat posts you need to allow for the fact that they will always protrude by a minimum of 6 to 7 cm from the frame. Your dealer will be able to advise you on which size suits you best if you fall exactly between two frame sizes.

    • Where can I find the theft prevention chip number for my AXA Defender lock?
      On the side of the rear fork, just under the curve of the lock. It always starts with 999.0528 plus another 8 figures. When the bike is delivered there is normally a barcode sticker as well showing the theft prevention chip number affixed to the lock.
      NB: AXA Defender locks are the only ones that have a theft prevention chip.
