FAQ Gazelle app

General

Of course! The Gazelle app is free to download and is packed with clever extras for your daily rides.

Do you have a Gazelle e-bike with an integrated GPS tracker? Then you can pair your bike with the app in no time. You can recognise these models by the yellow lock icon on the frame.

Many Gazelle e-bikes without a GPS tracker are also app-compatible. If you have an LED Remote, a System Controller, or a Purion 200 display, you’re ready to go.

Want to be 100% sure? Download the app and enter your frame number. If it’s recognised, you can get started immediately! If not, the app is currently (not yet) available for your model.

The Gazelle app is available for Android smartphones and iPhones. You can easily check the link to see which minimum version of Android or iOS your smartphone requires for the Gazelle app.

The Gazelle app is available for download here for iOS and Android smartphones.

Using the app does consume some power. How quickly the battery drains depends on your smartphone model. But don’t worry: we’ve developed clever solutions so you don’t run out of juice on the road. Do you have the Bosch Smart System? Then you can replace your display with the Bosch SmartphoneGrip. This holds your smartphone securely and charges it at the same time. Additionally, many Bosch displays feature a USB port, allowing you to power your phone via a cable whenever needed.

You can keep cycling as usual, as your e-bike functions perfectly without the app. You simply won't have access to the data and displays in the app at that moment.

You can decide to stop using the Gazelle app at any time. However, in this case, you will no longer be able to benefit from the app's features.

Yes, an active internet connection is required for certain functions.

Do you have an e-bike with an integrated GPS tracker? Then you will need an active data subscription for the added security of Gazelle Connect and Protect. For €39.95 per year, your bike is always connected and protected against theft. This way, you can enjoy your ride with total peace of mind.

The GPS module that works with our app is a fixed part of the e-bike system and can only be fitted directly at the factory. Therefore, retrofitting the module for app functions is unfortunately not possible.

Do you need a GPS tracker for your insurance? Your Gazelle dealer can often install a separate tracker for you. Please note, however, that this cannot be linked to the Gazelle app.

Want to make someone else happy with your Gazelle bike? Don’t forget to unpair the bike from your account. This allows the new owner to start using the app straight away.

  • Remove the bike in your Gazelle app under the bike settings. You can simply keep your account—it’s handy for your next Gazelle!

  • Does your bike have a GPS tracker? Pass the activation code (the QR code) on to the new owner. This is essential for them to re-pair the bike.

As soon as the Bluetooth icon on your main screen turns green, there is an active connection between your smartphone and your e-bike.

The first time, you simply pair your e-bike while adding the bike to the app. After that, your smartphone will recognise your e-bike automatically. Just make sure Bluetooth is switched on on your phone.

Is the connection failing? Re-establish it manually via the Bluetooth icon on your screen. If that doesn't work, give the connection a fresh start by re-adding your bike in the app.

App functions

Tap "Add bike". Then select whether you have an e-bike with or without an integrated GPS tracker. You can recognise a bike with a tracker by the yellow lock icon on the frame.

For e-bikes with a GPS tracker:

  2. Turn on your e-bike and enable Bluetooth on your smartphone. The app will now search for the tracker. If the connection fails, enter your frame number manually. You can find it on the white sticker with a barcode at the bottom of the tube, near the pedals.

  3. Finally, scan the activation code (QR code) located on your battery.

Please note: It is not possible to link one e-bike to multiple Gazelle app accounts. However, you can log in to the same Gazelle app account on multiple smartphones. You will then immediately see all previously added e-bikes.

Yes, that’s possible! Simply connect your bike via Bluetooth and tap the "Ride" button in the app. Your display will start automatically as soon as you start cycling. Prefer a different setup? In the settings, you can choose the screen orientation and decide whether the display should open automatically.

Certainly! You are free to share your login details securely with family or friends. This allows them to use your Gazelle e-bike and the app as well. All they need to do is download the app on their own smartphone and log in with your credentials.

Connect & Protect e-bikes

To add an e-bike with an integrated GPS tracker to the Gazelle app, you need an activation code. You can find this code on a sticker in the battery compartment (behind the battery on the tube) or as a printed activation card. Keep this code safe—you will need it if you want to add your e-bike again or sell it later.

Don't have an activation code? You can request a new one via our customer service.

Sometimes the data in the app differs slightly because it is based on estimated values. Additionally, if your e-bike hasn't been used for a long time, the GPS module may not have enough power to send new data. Our tip: fully charge your e-bike, change the assistance level, and go for a short ride. After a few minutes, the current data should be visible in the app.

Do you own a Gazelle Connect or Protect e-bike and want extra security when parking? You can secure your e-bike via the security button in the Gazelle app. This is activated by default, so you receive a notification as soon as your e-bike is moved. The theft protection uses the motion sensor in the module. You can also deactivate the automatic setting via the "Details" button; in this case, you will only receive alerts if you have manually switched the protection on.

When theft protection is active, you will receive a notification if your Connect or Protect e-bike is moved. On Android devices, you can choose the sound for this notification yourself. On iOS, you can choose between a bicycle bell, a horn, or a police siren. Ensure the app has permission for notifications and that your smartphone is not set to silent or "Do Not Disturb".

You can decide to stop using the app at any time. However, please note: you will miss out on practical benefits like access to your ride data and junction-to-junction navigation. If you have bicycle or theft insurance, you must contact the recovery service via your insurer by phone in the event of theft.

Yes, a data subscription is required to use all functions of the Gazelle app. This is the only way to activate features like theft protection. Without an active internet connection, it is not possible to receive notifications or report a theft via the app. However, you can still report a theft to your insurer by phone.

Some functions are available without a data subscription (via Bluetooth), such as the display of battery level, range, and speed, as well as your Gazelle dealer's contact details.

When purchasing a Connect model, this is included as standard for the specified term. For a Protect model, you take out the subscription yourself for €39.95 per year. approximately 30 days before your subscription expires, you will automatically receive a notification in the app. A 12-month extension costs just €39.95.

You will receive a notification directly in the Gazelle app 30 days before it expires.

No, the subscription does not renew automatically. You always confirm a renewal yourself via the Gazelle app.

  1. Wait for the notification that your subscription is about to expire.

  2. Open the Gazelle app on your smartphone.

  3. Tap the relevant message on the home screen.

  4. Follow the steps on the screen to complete the renewal.

As soon as the subscription expires, certain features in the app will stop working. For example, you will no longer have access to real-time tracking or theft protection.

You can easily renew your subscription for 12 months at a time. From 30 days before expiry, you will receive a message and can book the renewal directly. If no renewal occurs within 6 months of expiry, the app will deactivate the data-based functions. After this point, renewal is unfortunately no longer possible; the data connection and the GPS tracker will be permanently deactivated. This cannot be reversed.
