How much does an e-bike cost?

Quality and safety are our top priorities. You want to enjoy your bike for a long time, which is why you need a good motor, reliable brakes and a robust frame. Equipment quality and battery capacity often increase with price. At Gazelle, you'll find e-bikes from £1,949. Fortunately, a good electric bike is not necessarily the most expensive one. Your choice of components and model basically determine the price of the e-bike.

Our tip

Before buying an e-bike, it is wise to think about what you will use it for. Then it will be easier to judge which e-bike suits you and in which price range you should look.

Additional costs of an e-bike

Besides the purchase of your electric bike, there are also running costs involved. For instance, your electric bike will need annual maintenance or parts replacement. Also bear in mind that you might want to take out insurance and thus have to pay premiums. In addition, you will of course have to pay for the battery's power consumption.

Maintenance and repair costs

To prevent wear and tear, we recommend that you have your e-bike checked annually. Good maintenance and regular "mini refurbishments" extend the life of your e-bike. So you can enjoy it for longer! Furthermore, it is wise to keep your bike clean, as dirt affects the e-bike. Also, always make sure the tyre pressure is optimal and that the chain or belt drive has been cleaned.

What does e-bike insurance cost?

There are many different insurance policies for your electric bike. How much your insurance will cost depends on what you want covered. For example, how long do you want the bike to be insured for? And do you take out full coverage or only theft coverage? Every year, more than half a million bikes are stolen in the Netherlands. So taking out bicycle insurance is not that crazy.

What does it cost to charge an electric bike?

Of course, an e-bike involves electricity costs. As with your mobile phone or laptop, you need to charge the bicycle battery regularly. How much you spend on this per month depends on how often and how long you charge the battery. On average, the cost of a charge is around 0.10 cents to 0.13 cents. How much you spend does depend a lot on your electricity supplier and the current price of electricity.
