Ebiking by the Beach
My name is Sandrine van Slee and I am a Dutch transplant that has been living in Greenwich Village, New York for 25 years and have been riding a bicycle for about 24 years in Manhattan. Over the years, I have seen the city drastically change. Where I used to ride with just bike messengers on the street, now the city is full of cyclist and has become much more bike safe with great biking paths that stretch from Manhattan to the boroughs of Brooklyn and Williamsburg.
When I had the opportunity to experience the Gazelle electric bike, I was excited! And have to say that there have been no disappointments! I found the bike smooth, super-fast, and the bicycle is made to be sturdy, yet feels very light while riding which is amazing! I love the handlebars, saddle and of course that it’s a pedal assist, it’s fun to overtake professional cyclists on the bike path by the Hudson River (and see their faces)!
The low step frame is a favorite, easy to get on and off, and us Dutch love to transport things on our bike so it was very easy with a big bag(s) etc. Also easy to navigate between the crazy traffic and pedestrians that New York is known for, it’s a complete different experience than a regular bicycle.
I rent a beach Bungalow in surfy Rockaway Beach when it gets too hot in the city, and had a great time getting there from my place: riding along the Hudson river, bringing the bike on the ferry from Wall Street which takes an hour and riding the 2nd longest Boardwalk in the US!
It was great fun cycling this summer at the beach with the Gazelle ebike and can’t wait to get one myself!
