As the world pushes towards a more sustainable future, ebikes have become a vehicle of innovation. To encourage people to adopt electric bicycles governments and private groups of all sizes have begun offering rebate and incentive programs. With so many different programs offered, it can be confusing which ones you qualify for, so here at Gazelle we have created this incentive cheat sheet to help you navigate it all. After all, our goal is to help more people enjoy life on two wheels.

United States

California

Bay Area

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District allows Bay Area residents to trade in a vehicle from 2005 or older to receive a $7,500 credit. It can be used to purchase ebikes, bicycle accessories, and pay for public transportation.

Up to $1,000 rebate or 80% of purchase price, whichever is less, for eligible residents of San Mateo County or the City of Los Banos

Purchase an electric bicycle and receive a rebate up to $300. Income-qualified customers can receive an additional rebate up to $200.

Residents with total household incomes of less than or equal to 400% of the Federal Poverty Level are eligible for ebike rebates between $150 and $500. This rebate applies to ebikes, ebike conversion kits, and electric mopeds.

The City of Healdsburg is offering a rebate program for ebikes to promote clean mobility. The rebates are $700 for income-qualified CARE customers, $400 for an e-bike purchased in Healdsburg, $300 for an e-bike purchased outside of Healdsburg, and $50 for an e-bike conversion attachment kit.

Mountain View - Google Employees

Google employees working at the Mountain View campus who have participated in their 6-month bike lending program are eligible for a $500 post-purchase rebate. 

San Diego County

The Pedal Ahead Program is a loan-to-own program that allows participants to own their bicycle if they participate in a study and secure low-cost bike insurance for two years. Priority is given to individuals with an income threshold of $49,000 or below.

The Pacoima eBike Lending Program lends ebikes to residents of the Northeast San Fernando Valley. They provide locks, helmets, training classes, free repairs, and a site where riders can switch out their empty batteries for charged ones. The loan period is 9 months.

Residents of the San Gabriel valley are invited to participate in the GoSGV ebike share program. The program offers classic commuter ebikes and family ecargo bikes, with monthly rental prices of $79 and $129 respectively.

The Ecology Action Santa Cruz eBike Rebate Program provides rebates of $800 for low-income applicants or $400 for other applicants to people purchasing ebikes who work in Downtown Santa Cruz or are employed by the city of Santa Cruz.

In addition to municipal, regional, and state level programs, you may be able to take advantage of employer and industry programs to get access to rebates, subsidized pricing, leasing, or special loan rates. Colorado

Avon

The Town of Avon offers a post-purchase rebate for ebikes bought in Eagle county for residents who intend to offset vehicle miles. The rebate is $200 and there is a $1000 minimum purchase price for a new ebike.

The City of Denver offers a rebate program for ebikes purchased at participating Denver bike shops. The rebate is $400 for all Denver residents and $1,200 for income-qualified residents and cannot exceed the total purchase price of the bike.

The La Plata Electric Association offers rebates to its members for purchasing electric bikes. The maximum rebate is $300 and the rebate may not exceed 25% of the purchase price.

Residents of the Edwards Metro District are eligible to receive a $200 rebate on ebike purchases of $500 or more. The ebike must be used to take trips that would have normally been taken by car.

Ashland

Customers of Ashland Electric Utility are eligible for ebike rebates of $300 for a bike and $600 for a cargo bike purchased from participating Ashland bike shops. Electric bikes from non-local bike shops and online vendors may receive a rebate of $200.

Residents of Benton County who are served by Pacific Power and meet the income-level qualifications can receive a rebate $200 less than the purchase price up to $1000 in rebate. The rebate is only available for Class 1 or 2 ebikes.

Banff

The Town of Banff provides financial rebates to residents to help save energy and support environmentally-friendly transportation methods. Rebates are available for e-bikes, studded bike tires, urban crampons, and a variety of other products. The maximum rebate for Banff residents is 50% of the purchase price, or $500, whichever is less. Banff Access Tier 1 and Tier 2 residents are eligible for up to 50% of the purchase price, or $750 and $1000, respectively.
